I'm trying to use a template for guides, so that all the important information - start date, version number, dynasty, etc - is easily visible. However, while I can get the labels visible, the unique information is not showing up on the wiki pages. Can you fix whatever the problem, because I can't? Purgatoryness (talk) 23:18, 9 July 2012 (CEST)

You hadn't updated the internal labels. Fixed it for you. ~ Meneth (talk) 23:21, 9 July 2012 (CEST)

Do you know if this wiki is configured to allow typesetting equations in LaTeX? I was trying to use Wikipedia-style math tags, but they weren't working.

--Pyroclastic (talk) 06:00, 12 July 2012 (CEST)

It isn't. I could probably set it up if you need it though. ~ Meneth (talk) 14:31, 12 July 2012 (CEST)
I mean, I don't need it, but if you could set it up without too much hassle it'd be helpful. --Pyroclastic (talk) 11:54, 14 July 2012 (CEST)
Looks like the tag is now interpreted, missing closing tag was causing a parse error on this page ^^ -Romulien (talk) 23:43, 3 April 2015 (CEST)

Good work on your recent contributions to the new Religion (Modding) page! I'm trying to get a basic framework for all of the modding pages, so there's something for people to add to. There are some brilliantly knowledgeable people in the CKII community, so hopefully we can lure more over here and continue picking up momentum!

I have a basic knowledge of all of the modding aspects of CKII, so will leave blank anything I'm not sure about, to allow others to fill in more detail and internal links.

Thank you for starting this wiki; I think it's going to be an excellent resource for beginners and veterans alike! --Uvirith (talk) 16:37, 25 July 2012 (CEST)

Nice work on the modding pages. Just as a general note; whenever you've filled in as much as you can, but there's still things missing, replace the construction tag with a stub tag instead, and stick it at the bottom of the page. Oh and if you'd like instant feedback on pages you make, come on the IRC channel. ~ Meneth (talk) 16:41, 25 July 2012 (CEST)

The Other Wiki[edit]

Hello Meneth, I'm not sure where you and the other wiki owner left the discussion but I thought I would try and bring it up again. This is the message I posted on his talk page on the other wiki:

Hello, just wanted to throw in my two cents in this discussion. I realize that both of you have put a lot of work into both wikis and would like to keep them, however it does pose a problem for users seeking info and help on the game, as I'm sure you're well aware.
Now as I understand, both sites are built on slightly different frameworks (MediaWiki and Wikia) so that is part of the dissonance, but to the user there doesn't seem to be a predominant choice. I will, upon not finding the information I need on one wiki, simply check the other wiki and there are times I will pull up both just to have a clearer picture on the subject. This effectively elimates any need whatsoever for having two different wikis.
Wiki's are generally considered the go-to-place for finding information on a subject so having two competing wikis is not only counterproductive but shows a lack of professionalism. I'm sure we can all agree that helping the end user and providing a complete archive of information is the goal and taking some steps to merge the wikis is in persuit of that goal. Both wikis have grown over time so I am glad to offer my assistance in this task. I hope you both agree that something should be done and thanks for all the upkeep and work you have done so far on your respective sites. :)
MechaZer0 (talk) 03:16, April 18, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. It would be in everyone's best interest to only have one wiki, though I believe it would also be in everyone's best interest for this wiki to be the one. The reason for this is simple; this isn't hosted on Wikia. MediaWiki has a better layout, and independent hosting gives far more control over the wiki. There's also a lot less advertisement here as a result, as the sidebar ad is enough to pay for hosting. ~ Meneth (talk) 08:01, 18 April 2013 (CEST)

Categorizing user pages[edit]

Is there a point to putting user pages in Category:Users? I mean, that really is exactly what the User namespace already does. On a related note, I'm not sure what the value is of having pages for people like Wiz. What relevant information can you say about him, except that he made CK2+? You can more easily note that on CK2+'s own page. Kimberly (talk) 01:58, 5 May 2013 (CEST)

Good point. Free feel to correct it. ~ Meneth (talk) 02:00, 5 May 2013 (CEST)

Changes to Titular Title page[edit]

You added all of the titular kingdoms to the titular title page. But the list is labeled "creatable titular titles," when most of them aren't creatable. Which do you think it should be? If it's a list of every titular title, we should also add all the tribal duchies. Pyroclastic (talk) 01:51, 4 July 2013 (CEST)

Probably best to split it into two lists on the same page; creatable and uncreatable titular titles. ~ Meneth (talk) 01:45, 4 July 2013 (CEST)

Images uploaded new versions not displayed[edit]

Hi Meneth, I've noticed something weird when uploading new version of an existing image: seems the older one kept being used as latest version.

This is the case of Quick.png and Job uncover plots.png. Cheers Romulien (talk) 00:41, 18 December 2013 (CET)

That's due to caching. There's server-side caching, cloud-based caching, and client-side caching being used. The server-side caching should be purged quickly, but the cloud-based caching and client-side sometimes persists for longer. You can always try CTRL+F5 to override your client-side cache; often that'll resolve the issue. I'm seeing the newest versions displayed fine. ~ Meneth (talk) 09:23, 18 December 2013 (CET)
I think the inclusion of the images in this page have triggered some kind of server side refresh ! I've made another example by uploading an updated Genius trait icon, but not including it here: Traits#Good is not updated. Romulien (talk) 19:50, 18 December 2013 (CET)
Probably due to the cloud-based caching. It'll update eventually; nothing to worry about. ~ Meneth (talk) 20:06, 18 December 2013 (CET)

Hi, can you add Debugging to Template:ModdingNavbox (or unprotect it)? It looks like there are a few other articles in Category:Modding that should be on there too. --Artfunkel (talk) 22:54, 30 March 2014 (CEST)

Added. ~ Meneth (talk) 23:13, 30 March 2014 (CEST)

Hello, please add missing pages to the Template:ModdingNavbox such as Religion modding, also Folder/File_overview in the "Other" portion would be most helpful reference to people trying to mod. --AeonBlack (talk) 15:30, 23 June 2014 (CEST)

Done. ~ Meneth (talk) 15:33, 23 June 2014 (CEST)

Thank you for corrections ! English is not my language and sometimes really sucks >_>. Evrach (talk) 22:31, 6 April 2014 (CEST)

No problem! ~ Meneth (talk) 22:32, 6 April 2014 (CEST)

Account Linking[edit]

The accounts are linked across each Paradox Wiki, right? Just wondering, since when I tried logging into each to test it out, my password wasn't correct (Apparently) and I had to manually reset each one (Wiki password), although I don't have to create a new one each time, it seems. Should this be happening?--Prussia (talk) 21:46, 15 August 2014 (CEST)

All my wikis use the same user database, yes, so the same password should work on every one of my wikis. ~ Meneth (talk) 21:48, 15 August 2014 (CEST)

Navbox update[edit]

Now that Rebellion is a disambiguation page, can you remove it from Template:WarNavbox and Template:CharactersNavbox?

Done. Remember to sign talk-page edits with four tildes (~~~~). ~ Meneth (talk) 12:39, 28 September 2014 (CEST)
Thanks! Jruderman (talk) 08:20, 29 September 2014 (CEST)

Title revocation and tyranny[edit]

I changed the tyranny page to use the term only for actions that give the "Tyrant" opinion modifier, angering everyone in your realm rather than just your direct vassals.

I started to change the title revocation page to not use the term, but couldn't think of a concise term to mean "angering your direct vassals". I removed the category without changing the text, but that left an inconsistency which you reverted.

What do you think would be clearest, for use on the title revocation page and pages that mention title revocation? Jruderman (talk) 14:38, 1 October 2014 (CEST)

What opinion modifier does title revocation give to your direct vassals? ~ Meneth (talk) 14:45, 1 October 2014 (CEST)
It's a stacking "Revoked Vassal Titles". I think it's -20 for a county or duchy, and higher for revoking kingdoms. "Retracted a Vassal" (-10) and "Retracted a de jure Vassal" (-15) behave similarly. Jruderman (talk) 14:55, 1 October 2014 (CEST)
Okay. Technically not tyranny, but I think actions that abuse your legal powers in general should all be in the same category. Might be an idea to rename it to something else, but I feel the actions do belong together. ~ Meneth (talk) 14:56, 1 October 2014 (CEST)

How do you extract icons from the game? I was thinking it would be nice to have map mode icons in the table of map modes. Jruderman (talk) 23:19, 3 October 2014 (CEST)

They're all in the gfx folder, usually with a similar name to in-game. The map mode icons are probably a single file, though I suppose it is also possible there's a file for each of the icons.
To get them over to a .png format instead of .dds use Photoshop or GIMP. For Photoshop you need a DDS plugin. Might be the case for GIMP too. Anyway, one then just saves it as a .png. In some cases one has to select the contents of the alpha (transparency) layer and delete it from the regular RGB layers in order for the transparency to apply properly. ~ Meneth (talk) 23:44, 3 October 2014 (CEST)

Succession navbox[edit]

I made a Template:SuccessionNavbox. If you like it, I'll add it to the articles about succession types.

Looks good to me. I'll apply it to the relevant pages. BTW, make sure to sign talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~). ~ Meneth (talk) 12:28, 11 October 2014‎ (CEST)

bothersome antifeature[edit]

When I was making my edit, I typed in the edit summery, and clicked "save". Then a popup told me that I was publishing to "{{{SITENAME}}}" and I needed to type in my edit summery again to publish my edit. Than the simple captcha came up which was ok, only the popup came again and made me type in the edit summery a third time.

I know from using an account that when logged in I have to type in the edit summery twice instead of thrice, and that if I don't type in the edit summery in the popup it won't show up on the edit. I know I'm probably supposed to ignore the normal edit summery bar, but as someone who edits wikipedia often this throws me off, and I would have to type it twice when not logged in or adding an el. This feature that may have been added to make sure people remember to add edit summaries is likely throwing away summaries that people have already typed.

Please consider modifying or disabling whatever extension that is causing this behavior. 06:36, 3 May 2015 (CEST)

I know. It is rather annoying. Only happens when you hit enter; not when you manually hit the save button.
I know the extension that's causing it, but I haven't had the time to try to fix it yet. ~ Meneth (talk) 10:23, 3 May 2015 (CEST)

Is it okay if I start putting lots of stuff under User:Jruderman/? I've got lots of stuff in local text files that could benefit from wikification: challenges that don't belong on Interesting characters guide, ideas for improving CK, ideas for mods, documentation for mods I maintain, detailed strategies and checklists, along with various drafts of things that don't quite fit into the wiki as-is.

Jruderman (talk) 04:06, 18 August 2015 (CEST)

If it is wiki-related in some way it is fine, which most of that sounds like.
Documentation for your mods should probably go on wiki pages for those mods, not in your userspace. ~ Meneth (talk) 00:13, 19 August 2015 (CEST)

User contributions[edit]

My user contributions history seems to have disappeared...? For some reason they're now credited to User:Hairy_Dude& who I don't think ever existed. File uploads are still credited to me. Hairy Dude (talk) 14:11, 5 November 2015 (CET)

When the wiki's account system was integrated with the Paradox Wikis' system, you didn't merge with your wiki account but instead made a new one.
The account with the ampersand is your pre-integration account.
I might be able to reassign the edits; I'll give it a try later today. ~ Meneth (talk) 14:14, 5 November 2015 (CET)
I of course completely forgot about it, but it's been done now. ~ Meneth (talk) 22:01, 9 November 2015 (CET)

Please change Template:Iconify to use empty alt and no link, like this:

{{{1}}} [[File:{{{1}}}.png|alt=|link=]]

The link is confusing when on the wiki, and the alt text gets in the way when copied to Reddit or seen in Google Search snippets.

Good points, I fixed it ! Romulien (talk) 23:34, 29 February 2016 (CET)

Hi Meneth.

I think there is an error in Symptoms template (link for quick reference: ) In last line (Infection) it says "-10 Personal Combat Skill" while in game the modifier is only "-1 Personal Combat Skill".

That is all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kelaros (talk) 00:51, 20 October 2016‎ (CEST

I checked and fixed it. - Gamengervi (talk) @ 01:46, 20 October 2016 (CEST)
Thanks to the both of you for handling it. ~ Meneth (talk) 02:52, 20 October 2016 (CEST)

AI modifiers and breeding guide[edit]

Hi, could you make it so that the keywords rationality, zeal, greed, honor, and ambition link you to this ? I am not sure how to do that or if I even can. These traits are mentioned in other articles and right now it is difficult to find what they are. I had to do a bit of digging to find the above. I also updated the breeding guide stats. Could you take a look and see if it is now deemed correct for the current game version? Thanks! Artaios Greybark (talk) 19:05, 26 May 2017 (CEST)

You can find info on how to make redirects here: [1].
If you believe everything to be up to date on the breeding page, feel free to mark it as up to date; any user can do that :) ~ Meneth (talk) 19:34, 26 May 2017 (CEST)
I'm not sure about using the bare words "rationality", "zeal", "greed", "honor", and "ambition" as redirects to Modifiers#AI_behavior. There is another game concept called ambition and several of the other words are similar to trait names.
Instead, I think these should just be piped links on the Traits page, e.g. [[Modifiers#AI_behavior|Zeal]] which would appear as Zeal. Alternatively or in addition, each entry on the Traits page could be changed to say e.g. "AI Zeal" where it currently just says "Zeal". Jruderman (talk) 20:50, 26 May 2017 (CEST)

Small contribution that I cant get in through the normal way[edit]

Good day, I wanted to help contribute to the nickname section of the wiki with a strange new nickname that I found on one of my subjects but the anti spam restrictions guided me to post it here, so here you go ^^ -- 21:26, 27 December 2018 (CET)

"The Sea-Devil"[edit]
